That's annoying and sorry for the inconvenience.
Sorry to state the obvious, but you can't make calls if you signed up to OVO Data - even if you put the same OVO SIM card into your mobile. OVO Data and OVO Mobile Broadband are data only services - you can browse or binge but you can't make calls.
If you've got your OVO SIM card in your mobile AND you've definitely signed up to OVO Mobile try diagnosing the problem to figure out exactly what's going on:
Have you been able to make calls before?
If you've been able to make calls before, let's diagnose the problem. To check whether you can receive calls, get a mate to give you a call, or call yourself from a landline and see if it goes through. If that's all ok then it's likely to be the kind of call you're trying to make.
Is this the first time you're making a call using your OVO SIM card
If you've just activated your OVO SIM card and this is the first time you're making a call start by checking that the OVO network is showing up in the top left hand corner of your phone or tablet?
If it's not then it's probably a problem with your activation. Go back to the letter that was sent to you with your SIM card and double check that you followed these instructions carefully.
Are you calling or messaging an international or premium number?
OVO Mobile gives you unlimited standard calling, SMS and MMS within Australia so if you're trying to call a premium number or a phone outside of Australia then that's most likely the issue.
We're not telling you not to make those kind of calls, it just that you'll need to add OVO Extras to your OVO Mobile service. OVO Extras is a small amount of credit on your mobile phone that you can use to call premium numbers or make a call overseas. You can add OVO Extras by going to your OVO Dashboard and choosing the service that you's like to add OVO Extra to.
And, of course, if you've double-checked the above and you're not sure why get in touch with the OVO Team and we'll be happy to look into it for you.
