In Australia we're required, by law, to confirm you are who you say you are when you sign up to OVO.
We've chosen to do this by asking you to provide an Australian credit card when you activate your SIM card or asking you to undergo a simple online credit check.
If you choose to undergo an identity check you'll need to provide some information from a Government issued document. You'll need to use one of the following:
- An Australian passport
- An Australian Visa (if you have a foreign passport)
- A Medicare card
- A drivers licence issued within Australia
- An Australian Citizenship Certificate
You'll be asked to provide some information - things like name, address and date of birth copied from your document. It's really important that this information exactly matches the information held in the original Government issued document or we won't be able to confirm your identity.
The information you provide isn't stored by OVO - we simply verify this with the Official record holder and they tell us whether they've been able to confirm that it's you.
If you've got any questions about this please get in touch with one of our team.
